Competitions

EDT's first robotics competition was the Jerry Sanders Design Competition (JSDC) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, sponsored by Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). We have had great success in the past at this competition and are still very much committed towards continuing that success at upcoming competitions. The past few years EDT has participated in the Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition (IGVC) which requires the design and development of a fully autonomous robot. This contest is sponsored by many well-known organizations including the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). It provides an opportunity for many students from diverse majors to work together to produce a well-engineered product. A new competition for this year is the BMEstart competition. It involves designing a solution to any clinical problem and presenting this design in a research paper.

Jerry Sanders Design Competition

  • RC Remote Controlled Robots

  • Side tasks are also allowed to generate more points
  • Autonomous Challenge is also included
  • 3 current RC robots: Pazuzu, Sephiroth, Raijin
  • 1 current autonomous robot: Kratos
